2016 Schedule of Events - Family & Aluni Weekend

Friday, October 21

1:00pm-7:00pm, Check-In, Flanagan Campus Center Lobby (Lower Level), Stop in for an updated schedule of events and information. And everyone who pre-registered can pick up a coupon to Beatty Cafeteria that can be used throughout the weekend. Looking for more activities to fill your weekend? Purchase discounted tickets to the Museum of Science or local movie theaters at the Info Hub.

1:00pm-7:00pm, Hospitality Suite, Flanagan Campus Center Lobby (Lower Level), Waiting for the rest of your party? Or for your student to get out of class? Pick up a cup of coffee or a cookie at check-in and relax in the Flanagan Center Pavilion overlooking the Quad. You can read the newspaper, or the latest issue of Wentworth Magazine; you can also get information about local restaurants and Boston attractions, or mingle with other Wentworth guests. Have questions? Ask one of our helpful students who will be stationed at the nearby Info Hub.

4:00pm, Library Tour, Douglas D. Schumann Library & Learning Commons, Beatty Hall, Wentworth’s Library has just undergone a major renovation.  See how the new space supports Wentworth's model of collaborative learning while looking great too! Tours will leave from the circulation desk on the second floor.  ! Additional tours at 11am and 2pm on Saturday.

7:00pm-10:00pm, Check-In, Watson Auditorium, Watson Hall, Check-in will move over to Watson Friday night so you won’t have to miss any Casino Night Fun!   Guests who are just arriving can check-in to receive an updated schedule

We have blackjack, poker, roulette and even bingo! 10:00am, What is Co-op and how you can support your student through their co-op semesters, Blount Auditorium, Every WIT student will complete two co-ops in their time here, but what is it really?  And how can you, as a parent, help your student?  Hear from members of the Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development about how to help your student through this important time.  Can’t make this session?  Come back for the one at 11am!

10:00am, Architecture Studio Tour, meet your tour guide outside Blount Auditorium, Annex Central, Join students in the Master’s of Architecture as you tour student architecture studios in Annex.  See students hard at work, and the amazing projects they’re working on this month. Second tour at 12pm.

10:00am, Manufacturing Lab Tour,  Williston Hall, Ground Floor, Check out the four labs within this great space and see what our students are working on today! (Second tour at noon)

10:00am-10:30am, Future WIT Soccer Stars Game, Sweeney Field, Children of alumni, and siblings of WIT students will take the field in a fun-filled game featuring Wentworth’s future athletes. (Pre-registration required)

10:30am-11:30am, Men’s Alumni Soccer Game, Sweeney Field, Can Leopards change their spots? See if our alumni still have what it takes out on the field.

11:00am, Women’s Volleyball vs. Eastern Nazarene College, Tansey Gymnasium, It’s the Leopards vs. the Lions in this exciting match-up! Between the second and third sets of the match, the Athletic Department will unveil the 2016 Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship banner for the men’s volleyball team and will also recognize the team for its historical season.

1:00pm-3:00pm, Wentworth Tailgate, Wentworth Hall Front Lawn, Calling all students, families, alumni and friends – Are you a former WIT athlete who was on a fall varsity team?  Or are you a friend who wants to cheer on the Leopards?  Join us for a BBQ! Tickets are $5 for guests over 18 (guests under 18 are free!) Tickets include the BBQ and two drink tickets given to each pre-registered guest over the age of 21.  A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

1:30pm, Dean's Address, Blount Auditorium, Annex Central, Join Wentworth's Dean of Students Annamaria Wenner for an update on the state of the Institute.  This session will let you know what changes are in store for Wentworth.  Dean Wenner will be available after the session for questions.

2:00pm-3:00pm, Veteran’s Social, Alumni Room (Beatty 103), Join us for a social welcoming all veteran’s from the Wentworth family.  Students, alumni, family members, faculty and staff are invited to attend.  Light refreshments will be served.

2:00pm-5:00pm, Harvest Festival & Build-a-Leopard,  Watson Auditorium, Stop by the Harvest Festival to build a stuffed leopard, play Rock Band, giant Jenga and Connect Four, get your fortune told, visit our balloon artist, get your photo taken with the Wentworth Leopard and more! (Tickets are required to build-a-leopard, but everything else is free).

3:30pm, Men’s Soccer vs. Endicott College Sweeney Field, See if the Leopards can overpower the Gulls, in what’s bound to be an exciting game!

7:00pm, Hypnotist Jim Spinnato, Evans Way Auditorium, Why leave campus for a show when we've got a free, family friendly show right here?  Hypnotist Jim Spinnato has performed all over New England from Six Flags to Foxwoods and at many local colleges.  Bring the whole family to this show, you never know what you'll end up doing!  Snacks provided.  (A second show will be performed at 9pm, the 9pm show is an R-rated show and is not intended for younger viewers). 

7:30pm, Improv Asylum(tickets required), Improv Asylum is a comedy theater that features improvisation, sketch comedy and has been described as "Whose Line is it Anyway?" meets "Saturday Night Live". Nothing is predictable, anything can happen and it's never the same show twice.  

8:00pm, Blue Man Group, Charles Playhouse(tickets required), Blue Man Group is best known for their wildly popular theatrical shows which combine music, comedy and multimedia theatrics to produce a totally unique form of entertainment. 

9:00pm, Shear Madness Comedy, Charles Playhouse, (tickets required), Set in a hairstyling salon that is the scene of a wacky murder, Shear Madness is the uproarious whodunit where the audience gets to solve the crime

Sunday, October 23

9:00am-11:00am, Jazz Breakfast, Watson Auditorium, Relax to the soulful sounds of jazz as you unwind from the busy weekend. Gather round the table for breakfast with jazz favorites from the Brian Fitzpatrick Jazz Trio.  

10:30am and 11:00am, Duck Tours, Departing from West Lot, (tickets required) It wouldn't be a trip to Boston without a memorable Duck Tour! Take a historic ride throughout our great city. The ConDUCKtor will take you past many landmarks and will entertain you with facts and fables of the American Colonial era. Duck Tours will leave directly from campus. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Make sure to check your tickets!  Some tours leave at 10:30am while others leave at 11:00am. 

1:00pm, Men’s Rugby vs Salve Regina, Sweeney Field, Wentworth Rugby takes on Salve Regina in their first Family & Alumni Weekend game!

Douglas D. Schumann Fitness Center - Want to get a workout in this weekend?   Visit the Fitness Center in the Flanagan Center.  Visitors can pick up a one-time guest pass at the Info Hub on their way in.  Showers and lockers are available for use as well.  Fitness Center users must be 18 or older. Fitness Center hours: Friday 6am-9pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, & Sunday 10am-9pm

Douglas D. Schumann Library and Learning Commons - Check out the newly renovated space.  Hours: Friday 7am-6pm, Saturday 8am-6pm, & Sunday 11am-10pm

Wentworth Bookstore—Don’t forget to use your bookstore coupon to receive 10% off all clothing and gift items. The Bookstore is located in Flanagan 025.  Bookstore hours: Friday: 9am-6pm, Saturday: 10am-4pm, Sunday 11am-2pm

Prayer and Meditation RoomLooking for a quiet place to center yourself?  Or a space for daily prayer or meditation?  We have what you’re looking for in Flanagan 029.  A foot sink, prayer rugs, and meditation cushions are available for use.  Hours: Friday 6am-11pm, Saturday 8am-11pm, & Sunday 10am-11pm

Beatty Cafeteria - Come check out the Beatty Cafeteria!  Offering hot entrees and a large selection of foods all day.  Don’t forget, families who pre-registered can pick up cafeteria coupons at check-in for a free meal on Saturday! Beatty Cafeteria hours: Friday 7am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-6:30pm.  The Leopard Café is open Saturday 7:00am-10:30am serving coffee and pastry.
