Vice President for Academics Affairs/Provost
 
Dr. Kuei-wu Tsai has been appointed Vice President for Academics Affairs/Provost at Wentworth. Dr. Tsai has been the dean of the College of Engineering , Computer Science, and Technology at California State University , Los Angeles since 2001
 

Boston, MA – July 21, 2006 – To the Wentworth Community:

It is my distinct pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Kuei-wu Tsai as Vice President for Academics Affairs/Provost at Wentworth. Dr. Tsai has been the dean of the College of Engineering , Computer Science, and Technology at California State University , Los Angeles since 2001. He holds the rank of professor of civil engineering. Dr. Tsai earned a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the National Taiwan University and an M.A. degree, an M.S. degree in civil engineering, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from Princeton University . Prior to his position at California State University , he was associate dean of the College of Engineering from 1994 – 2001 at San Jose State University and chairman of the department of civil engineering from 1981 to 1989. Dr. Tsai is a registered geotechnical engineer and civil engineer in the state of California . He has been president and founder of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Chinese Institute of Engineers as well as president and founder of the Chinese-American Economic and Technology Development Association. He has published over 30 technical works.

Dr. Tsai brings to Wentworth his extraordinary expertise in fundraising and curriculum-building. As the dean of engineering at CSULA, he implemented an aggressive outreach program that reversed the college's downward enrollment trend and achieved a 21.6% growth in full-time eligible students in two years. He also enhanced the college's relationship with industry and alumni by restructuring and upgrading the College Industry Advisory Board and substantially increased the scholarship fund and gifts for the college. Under Dr. Tsai's tutelage, CSULA has been very successful in winning many high quality research grants through a very competitive process with more than $12 million in new research grants in the past two years.

Please welcome Dr. Tsai to the Wentworth community. His official start date is August 1, 2006.
