Purpose of Jobs, Duties, and Responsibilities

Working at the Career Center exposes Career Assistants (CA) to all the nuances of career success.  The successful candidate for this role will be a vital member of our team and will be a part of behind-the-scenes processes of students applying for and finding jobs.

The Wentworth Co-op Program is a cornerstone of education at WIT, and we help hundreds of students each semester (including the summer) to find co-op jobs. We have hundreds of employer relationships, and we rely on each member of our office to foster those valuable relationships—including our Career Assistants.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Data gathering, entry and analysis
  • Marketing support: assistance with flyers, social media and online communication, input to outreach campaigns)
  • Promoting and executing event success: Mock Interview Day, Career Fair, workshops and other events
  • Hosting employers when they interview on campus
  • Answering student questions about events, processes, staff availability, & general services offered
  • Additional responsibilities will be added depending on the candidates’ desire, training and ability to assist students in the job search process; including: resume review, cover letter editing and interview preparation.

  • Attention to detail
  • Must be on time and ready to work when shift begins and stay to end of assigned shift
  • Able to lift 40 pounds and stand for 2-3 hours
  • Prioritize multiple work tasks
  • Great communication skills, particularly face-to-face conversations
  • Desired but not required (trainable):
  • Excel advanced functions, Outlook Calendar, Google docs, Survey Monkey, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook administration are all helpful

The position will be staffed from 9:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday by a combination of students hired.
