Wentworth Institute of Technology's financial aid award is offered as a
"package" which can consist of a combination of scholarships, grants,
loans and employment. By following the application procedures, you
will be considered for all aid which you qualify for. You will be
notified of your eligibility in the form of an award letter, which will
clearly outline the types and amounts of each program you are eligible
for. You may be offered assistance from one or more of the
programs below.
Merit Award Scholarship: Wentworth offers merit-based scholarships
in addition to need-based aid. All applicants are
automatically considered for Merit Awards - no additional application is
necessary. Merit Scholarships ranged from $1000 to $8500 for the
entering class of Fall 2009. The Merit evaluation is determined by
the Admissions Office and begins in mid-January. The scholarship may be renewed for up to five
years, depending on the length of the recipient’s bachelor’s degree
program. Recipients must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 2.5
institutional cumulative GPA.
President’s Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded each year to a premier group of incoming students chosen by Wentworth’s Scholarship Committee. Recipients have demonstrated excellent academic achievement and active involvement in both their school and extended communities. Students must have a minimum combined SAT score of a 1600 (including math, critical reading, and critical writing) or an ACT score of a 24 in order to apply for this scholarship. Fall 2009 President's Scholars had an average SAT score of 1823 total (Critical Reading, Math and Writing) or an average ACT score of 30. President's scholarships are awarded at $14,000 and may be renewed for up to five years (depending on the length of the student's bachelor's degree program), provided the student is enrolled full-time and maintains a 3.0 grade point average.

Arioch Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded each year to a premier group of incoming students chosen by Wentworth’s Scholarship Committee. Recipients have demonstrated excellent academic achievement and active involvement in both their school and extended communities. Students must have a minimum combined SAT score of a 1600 (including math, critical reading, and critical writing) or an ACT score of a 24 in order to apply for this scholarship. Fall 2009 Arioch Scholars had an average SAT score of 1915 total (Critical Reading, Math and Writing) or an average ACT score of 27. The Arioch Scholarship of $17,000 is renewable for up to five years (depending on the length of the student's bachelor's degree program), provided the student is enrolled full-time, lives on campus and maintains a 3.0 grade point average.
Application information.
Wentworth Community Scholarship: Eligibility for this scholarship
is determined by Wentworth’s Community Scholarship Committee. It is open
to returning students who show a significant commitment to the Wentworth
Community through involvement in social, administrative, charitable and
athletic activities. An eligible student must have completed four
semesters and been enrolled full-time while maintaining an institutional
cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
better. Interested students should send a letter documenting their
activities to the Community Scholarship Committee c/o the Student Service
Center.
Recipients must re-apply every year. Maximum award: $2500.
National Commission for
Cooperative Education National Co-op Scholarship Program:
Applicants who have been accepted to Wentworth by February 15 are
eligible to apply for one of twenty NCCE scholarships of $5000 each. These
awards are renewable up to $20,000 to $25,000 per program and
institution criteria. For the application and

Institutional
Scholarships: Wentworth will also offer additional scholarships
to qualified individuals based
on specific criteria (e.g. geographic location, intended major, etc). Amounts vary.
Federal Pell Grant: Eligibility for this grant is determined by
criteria set by the federal government. The award amount will decrease if
a student is not enrolled full-time. This financial aid award is a grant
and does not need to be repaid. Maximum award for 2010-2011: $5550.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG):
This federal grant program is designed to assist first and second-year
students who have passed a rigorous course of study during their high
school tenure. The qualifications for that course of study are
determined by either their home state or the federal
government. Recipients must be awarded a Pell grant, be U.S.
citizens and have completed less than 63 undergraduate course
credits. Second year recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain
eligible. Maximum award: $750 1st year students, $1300 2nd year students.
National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent
Grant (SMART):
This federal grant program is awarded to students in an eligible
technology or language related academic program. Recipients must
maintain above a 3.0 program GPA. This award is given to third and
fourth-year students that have completed between 64 and 130 course
credits. Eligible students must also be U.S. citizens and Pell grant
recipients. Maximum award: $4000.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG): This
need-based grant does not need to be repaid. The award amount decreases if
the recipient is not enrolled full- time. Priority is given to Pell Grant
Recipients. Maximum award: $1200.
Mass Grant and other State Scholarships: (www.osfa.mass.edu)
Eligibility for these grants is
determined by each state. State grants will not be awarded until the
school receives a roster from the state agency. Mass Grant recipients must be enrolled full time;
they and their parents must be Massachusetts resident. Amount varies by state.
Gilbert Grant: This need-based state grant does not need to be
repaid. To be eligible, students and parents must be Massachusetts state
residents and the student must be enrolled full time. Maximum award: $2000.
Federal Work-Study: This federal need-based work program allows
students to work on and off campus. Students are notified at the beginning
of the school year how to apply for positions and are paid for the hours
they have worked every two weeks. This award is not deducted from
students’ bills; the funds are paid directly to the student. Maximum award: $1600.
