Professional Land Surveying
(PLS) Certificate
The Professional Land Surveying certificate program is
designed to provide the theoretical knowledge required for professionals
currently working in the land surveying field and who are seeking
to become a registered Professional Land Surveyor in Massachusetts.
Competencies learned are field measurement, survey calculations,
evidence gathering and assessment, boundary determination, publication & presentation of final survey results, and the applicability
of emerging technologies.
The PLS certificate was developed by DPCS in collaboration with
the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers
(MALSCE). Through the combination of Wentworth’s state-of-the-art
technical and educational resources and MALSCE’s vast network
of land surveying professions, this certificate program provides
a vibrant learning environment for those committed to a career in
land surveying.
Facilities Management Certificate
The Facilities Management Certificate (FMC) is intended for professionals currently working in the facilities management field, who are seeking to advance their career. The certificate is also designed to provide the critical information students need to pass the Certified Facilities Manager exam offered by the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA.) In addition to the principles of facilities management, competencies learned will include facilities project management, facilities real estate and property development and financial skills for the facilities manager.
Acceptance into the FMC is by application and requires an associate degree and/or significant professional experience/training in a buildings and facilities management position.
This program is designed to be completed over two semesters and classes will meet one evening per week from 6:00-9:00pm . Continuing education units will be awarded upon successful completion of each course (2.1CEU's.) A Facilities Management Certificate will be awarded upon the successful completion of the required four courses (8.4CEU's.)
Construction Certificate
A certificate in building construction is offered incorporating the
following four non-credit courses: Plan Reading, Estimating, Wood
Framing, and Masonry. Upon completion of this series of
courses, the student will receive a certificate in building
construction and the option of eight college credits of advanced
standing that can be applied to our associate degree program in
building construction.
After students are introduced to Wentworth through technical
skills offerings, they often decide to pursue degree programs.
This certificate provides the student with a head start on a degree
program by offering advanced standing college credit in two courses:
BLDG 155 Construction Methods and BLDG 200 construction
Estimating.
