What programs are offered through the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies?

DPCS offers a range of technology-focused associate and bachelor degree programs as well as professional certificates, technical skills courses. All DPCS programs specialize in preparing people for careers in technology and blend theory and practice with students spending 40% of their class time in the laboratory. The DPCS curriculum model includes specific learning and competency objectives that are integrated throughout each course.

How is the academic year defined at Wentworth?

Wentworth offers three semesters per year: Fall (classes begin in early September), Spring (classes begin in early January) and Summer (classes begin in mid-May.) Students may begin their studies in any semester. The academic calendar can be found in the registrars office. An admissions counselor will assist you with initial course selection and you will be assigned an academic advisor who will work with you throughout your tenure as a DPCS student.

How do I apply to a DPCS program?

Our on-line application will soon be available. In the meantime, download an application and fax 617-989-4399 or mail the completed form to the DPCS office. We will be pleased to waive the application fee if you chose to apply in this manner. Contact an admissions counselor for assistance with the application process.

How much is the tuition? How is tuition paid?

Tuition is $420 per credit and courses are either three or four credits.

Tuition must be paid at the time of registration. Once you are an accepted student, you can register and pay on line with a credit card. You can also download a registration form and fax or mail the form to the DPCS office, (617) 989-4399.

Is financial aid available to DPCS students?

You are eligible to apply for Financial Aid, providing you are enrolled in a degree program and are taking at least 6 credits per semester. You can apply for financial aid on line utilizing FAFSA on the WEB.

Does Wentworth accept transfer credit from other colleges?

Wentworth allows you to receive credit for up to 50% of your total degree program. This can be accomplished by transferring credits from other colleges, universities, or technical schools, passing a CLEP (College Level Examination Program) or AP (Advanced Placement) examination in a relevant subject, and/or by petitioning for credit based on professional or industrial experience.

In order to receive credits, you must apply to and be accepted in an associates or bachelors degree program at Wentworth. An admissions counselor will assist you with the transfer credit process.

I have been out of school for a long time. Will I fit in?

DPCS enrolls students from various age levels, with most students being in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. It is not unusual, however for students in their 50’s and 60’s and even beyond to decide to enroll! Age is not viewed as a limitation in DPCS. In fact, the life and work experience you bring to the classroom is viewed as an asset, both for your learning and the learning of your fellow classmates.

The most important element for success at any age is your desire and motivation to succeed.

Who are the instructors for DPCS courses?

Our faculty of practicing professionals is familiar with the latest technologies and trends. DPCS instructors include faculty members from Wentworth’s day college and instructors who are practitioners in their field and who teach part-time for DPCS.

Our instructors are enthusiastic mentors who value the time and hard work that students give to their studies. Our students often consider their instructors as partners in their education.

Is Wentworth easily accessible?

Yes. Wentworth's campus, located at the corner of Huntington Ave and Ruggles Street is easily accessible via the MBTA Orange Line (Ruggles Station) or Green Line (take the Heath Street trolley and get off at the Museum of Fine Arts stop.)

Wentworth is also accessible by car and there are several parking lots available to students at a cost of $50.00 and up per semester.

When can I come to Wentworth to learn more about your programs?

DPCS holds monthly information sessions designed to provide prospective students with all the necessary information to enroll. In addition, admissions counselors are available to meet with you on an individual basis at a time convenient for you.

Since I will not be on campus during the day, how will I be apprised of news and activities?

Wentworth’s web-based portal, Leopard Connection, will keep you apprised of all that is happening on campus. You can log on and start your day with timely campus announcements, enjoy web-based access to course information for the courses in which you are enrolled and correspond via e-mail to students enrolled in class with you. The Students services page will link you to campus services and the Campus Life Page will update you about campus events, student organizations and community information.

You will receive access to Leopard Connection as soon as you are accepted into a degree or certificate program.
