Women at Wentworth

Educational excellence
Every year over 500 women choose Wentworth. And, they do it for the same reason men do because it offers an excellent education that leads to successful careers. With a female population which has steadily grown over the years to nearly 20 percent, we're known for our comfortable classroom and residential environments.

Supportive and safe environment
In addition to an atmosphere that encourages and supports women students, Wentworth provides an exceptionally safe campus, with 24-hour on-campus security services, and professional live-in residence hall directors.

Resources for women
The Multicultural Center at Wentworth, located in the Office of Student Leadership Programs on the fourth floor of Beatty Hall, provides a comfortable environment for students to meet, relax, and hold a club meeting. Many programs, both social and educational, geared towards women's issues are coordinated through the Center. The Society for Women Engineers holds their executive board meetings in this Center.

The Woman to Woman Program provides a social and informational forum for female students to meet other students, faculty, and staff members, share their experiences, and develop mentor relationships.

Wentworth's chapter of the Society of Women Engineers a national professional organization is open to women students at Wentworth in any of our majors. SWE@WIT has a thriving membership with a variety of activities, including community outreach programs to young women in the greater-Boston area.

Quick facts:

  • 100% of Wentworth's 2006 Orientation Coordinators (which is the highest position on the orientation staff) are women.
  • 57% of our Senior RAs (the top position on the residential staff) are women.
