Nelson Recreation Center
Built in 1970, the Nelson Recreation Center houses Tansey Gymnasium,
home of the men's and women's basketball and men's and women's
volleyball teams. Tansey Gymnasium is also used for Wentworth's
intramural program, recreational basketball and volleyball and outdoor
sports teams' practice during preseason and inclement weather. There is
a fitness center located on the third floor that has Nautilus and free
weights, as well as cardiovascular equipment.
Sweeney Field
In August 1996, Wentworth's new athletic field, located directly
across from Wentworth's front door, was completed. This
synthetically-surfaced, state-of-the-art, lighted field is the practice
and contest site for varsity softball, soccer and lacrosse teams, as
well as host to intramural programs.
Matthews Arena
The Wentworth ice hockey team practices and plays all of its home
games at Matthews Arena, on the campus of Northeastern University. This
6,000 seat arena was renovated in 1995 to widen the ice surface to a 200
X 90 foot surface that hosts HOCKEY EAST and international hockey games
and several world-class figure skating shows. The lobby and reception
areas were also renovated to show off the historic beauty of this
world-class facility. |
