Why choose Wentworth?

A history of excellence
Founded in 1904, Wentworth Institute of Technology is a nationally-ranked institution that is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (NEASC). Wentworth offers career-focused education through bachelor's degree programs in architecture, computer science, design, engineering, engineering technology and management.

The power of career-focused education
Wentworth's three-part experiential learning model — career-oriented classes, hands-on labs and studios, and a co-op program that is one of the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in the nation — ensures employers have a high regard for our students. Wentworth's career services staff work one-on-one to find the perfect co-op for each student. 100% of our co-op placements are directly related to the student's major. Wentworth students graduate with eight months to one year of professional, paid work experience in their field and on their resume.

Small school benefits, big city resources
This private, coeducational college is located on 35 acres in the heart of Boston. With 2,600 full-time day students, Wentworth provides individualized, personal attention for each of our students. In addition to the friendliness of a small school community, students benefit from the resources of a larger university through our partnership in the Colleges of the Fenway consortium, and students have access to all the excitement of Boston, the ultimate college town. Colleges of the Fenway
Wentworth is a member of this six college consortium representing 12,000 Boston area students or 10% of the local undergraduate population.

Getting help with costs
Wentworth’s tuition, at $19,300 per year (for academic year 2006-2007), is among Boston’s most affordable. Room and board is $9,300 per academic year (also for academic year 2006-2007). Financial aid often relieves much of the burden for students and their families, with more than 75 percent of Wentworth students receiving aid. Call our Financial Aid Office at 800.222.9368 to learn more.

Laptop program
Our laptop initiative provides all Wentworth students with the computing skills and technical tools to ensure success in their programs of study and future careers.

Learn while contributing to the community
Wentworth's Center for Community & Learning Partnerships (CLP) facilitates creative activities and programs that address community needs while simultaneously enhancing each participating Wentworth student's educational experience. The Center focuses on the student's capacities of technology, management, design, and youth/family outreach to help local non-profits and community groups with their individual challenges (e.g. developing an operational business plan for the community’s wireless network; creating a web portal that will allow professional and citizen planners and urban enthusiast to share information, pictures, journals, and ideas; or developing a capital campaign and business plan for a local health organization).

Quick fact:
Wentworth’s new architecture curriculum offers students, after completion of their second year (or sophomore year), the ability to focus their studies in one of three new concentrations — design and research, design and technology, and design and culture.

These new concentrations complement the existing National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited program, while giving students an opportunity to explore, and train in, a specific area within the practice of architecture.
