Senior project scores full-time job, wins award
Kyle Lamson, graduate of Wentworth's Industrial Design program and former member of the varsity lacrosse team, found a smart way to put his senior project to work. After spending all year researching and reinventing the traditional lacrosse glove, he pitched his idea to Brine, Inc., a major sports equipment maker, which then hired him. The Supercrosse® design is now featured in their lacrosse line.
“I spent a lot of time researching materials. I looked at medieval armor, Samurai armor, motorcycle racing gloves, and scuba diving gloves. Then, I took what I had learned from my research, and applied it to traditional cut-and-sew manufacturing methods. The result is a cohesive design that addresses functional challenges, while offering a unique, new aesthetic.”
