Mechanical Engineering Technologists are indispensable in today’s changing workplace. A crucial link in the chain of modern rapid product design and development projects, they apply technology and mechanical engineering concepts to achieve project goals. The practical hands on 3-D CAD (computer aided design) design and analysis skills cultivated at Wentworth are highly sought by employers around the country.
As a Mechanical Engineering Technology Student, you will balance a fundamental knowledge of engineering principles with appropriate laboratory and design experiences. You will study CAD, and specialized areas such as strength of materials, engineering graphics, machine design, mathematics and physics in the development of your design skills. There are a variety of team projects in addition to individual special projects available to students sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and faculty supported independent research.
Career Opportunities for the mechanical engineering technologist abound, and the graduate can find employment in most cities and towns world-wide. Mechanical Engineering Technology at Wentworth is a full-time day, four-year cooperative education program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The comprehensive program of study is rooted in Wentworth’s rich tradition of project-based and experimental learning. The curriculum is rigorous and well balanced in the presentation of theory and problem-solving techniques. New students can enter the Bachelor of Science program in Mechanical Engineering Technology from high school or with advanced standing from and appropriate Associate Degree Program.
