Computer
networking and information systems professionals manage networks and
database management systems, and implement creative technical solutions
for businesses. As a student of computer network and
information systems, you will learn to apply technology to the needs of
modern business. Studies include key introductory programming languages
(including object-oriented programming), as well as systems
architecture, software testing and operating systems. You'll also gain
experience in web design and development. In addition, a specialized
networking lab will help you develop skills in network installation,
administration and operation. Related courses such as software design,
database management systems, system analysis, and information technology
are also offered. You are required to successfully complete two co-op
work semesters beginning junior year.
As a graduate you'll be qualified to work in areas such as
network administration, database administration, web application
development, web design, technical support, and IT management.
