I am privileged to welcome you to Wentworth Institute of Technology. Our community is student-centered and provides the technical skills and professional knowledge that students need to become leaders in rewarding and successful careers. Moreover, they are engaged citizens. Our talented and engaged faculty, who bring extensive industry experience, and staff are providing high quality educational opportunities that meet the needs and requirements of industry in the disciplines of engineering, technology, design, sciences, and management. Our hands-on, practical education prepares our students to immediately enter the workforce.
It is truly an exciting time at Wentworth as the campus is undergoing significant improvements that will positively impact the college experience for our students. Construction has begun on the new Center for Sciences and Biomedical Engineering, which will include eleven new state-of-the-art laboratories and be utilized by all students as part of their science education. The space will enhance the learning environment and provide more opportunities for collaboration between students and faculty. Another major building project, the new Flanagan Campus Center, will be the hub of student activities and provide modern amenities, such as a fitness center and dining facilities, to further improve student life.
Wentworth has recently launched new undergraduate and graduate programs to address the interests of students and needs of industry. Identifying and creating new opportunities for learning at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and for life-long learners is an important strategic focus. We create such opportunities by adding new undergraduate majors and graduate programs, encouraging collaboration across disciplines, and revamping delivery methods for classes (i.e. classroom instruction, online learning, or a hybrid model).
I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about what makes Wentworth such a special place and vibrant learning community–from profiles of students working in required cooperative education (co-op) positions and information about our nationally recognized academic programs (Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report) to student leadership programs and news and events taking place on campus. Please visit our campus to experience firsthand what our current students and 36,000 alumni have experienced over the past 100 years of Wentworth’s history.
Welcome and I hope to see you on campus.
