Students Search for Jobs at Career Fair
At this semester’s annual career fair, 139 companies and 658 students and alumni met to network and discuss job openings.
The employers were looking for students to fill both co-op and full-time positions for after graduation. Larry LaFreniere, the President of Electric Supply Center, said he was looking for three to four full-time and two co-op positions.
“Wentworth students are hands-on and practical,” LaFreniere stated, explaining why he comes to the career fair each year. “What we do seems to fit in line with what the graduates at Wentworth know.”
Chris Ranero is one of the 96 Wentworth alumni who represented their companies at the fair. “I was a senior last year and I came to that career fair looking for a part-time position for my last summer semester,” said Ranero, who now works as a Test Engineer at Euro-Pro, a household appliance company. “My senior design project was designing kitchen appliances so my professor introduced me to Euro-Pro.”
Companies looking for students from all disciplines attended, including platinum sponsor Bond Brothers, Inc., and gold sponsors Electric Supply Center and Olympus NDT.
The large number of employers filling Tansey Gym excited Anita Tomasian, a sophomore mechanical engineering major. “I’m looking for a co-op for next spring, so right now I’m just trying to get a feel for the companies and get experience talking to employers,” she said.
