Internet Radio Station WIRE Recognized for Excellence in Broadcasting

For a radio station that was being run out of a closet in Beatty Hall just a few years ago, WIRE, Wentworth’s Internet Radio Experience, station director Joshua Ramirez is amazed with the progress the program has made. This month, Wentworth’s internet radio station was awarded the Bronze Award for Excellence in Broadcasting at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) East Coast Regional Conference at Simmons College. This is the first IBS award for WIRE.

“Through the incredible hard work, determination, and passion that our executive board and our members have given, as well as with the new studio and fantastic support that Wentworth and Campus Life have provided to us, WIRE has already become the ideal platform with which the student body can freely express itself,” said Ramirez, Computer Information Systems ’15.

At the conference, Ramirez and faculty advisor Paul Lazarovich, professor of communications, sat on two panels about radio station management - "Station Operations Bootcamp" and "Station Manager's Workshop"

“The Bronze Award for Excellence in Broadcasting reflects both WIRE's current status as a successful student-run radio station, as well as the opportunity we have ahead of us to grow and achieve even more for WIT and the student body,” said Ramirez.
