Celebrating Women at Wentworth
Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends gathered for the celebration of 39 years of women at Wentworth on Friday, March 18. An engaging panel of industry leaders and Wentworth alumnae led a conversation on the topic of “Designing Your Excellence,” prompting discussion and questions about personal growth and professional development among the approximately 80 attendees.
Participants on the panel included Dr. Nancy Norman, chief medical officer for the Boston Public Health Commission; Judy Nitsch, founding principal and chairman of the board of Nitsch Engineering; three young alumni−Whitney Brown, BELM ’08; Portia Lane, BELM ’08; and Michelle Jose, BCET ’07; and moderator, Durga Suresh, associate professor of computer science at Wentworth. The panelists offered advice on time management, volunteer opportunities, negotiating feminism in the workplace, and finding the path right for the individual.
The evening was capped off with Wentworth’s annual presentation of the Woman of the Year award. This year’s honoree was Durga Suresh, who was recognized for her passion for Wentworth, commitment to students, and overall collegiality in the Wentworth community.
