Architectural Indexes
List of Alumni Library's Journals in Architecture, Art and Design
Architectural Index currently indexes 18 national magazines on
architecture, building and construction. 17 of these
are held in the Alumni Library. The index is available online through
the Databases section of the library
homepage and in the Wentworth Library in print form in annual
volumes, which cover 1973 to 1978, and 1985 to the present.
Art Full Text provides indexing, abstracting, and some full-text
to domestic and foreign publications in the subject areas of archaeology,
architecture, art history, city planning, motion pictures, graphic
arts, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture,
museology, photography, and related fields. It is available online
via the Alumni Library homepage in the Databases
section. It covers 1984 to the present.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals is an index to more than
1,000 worldwide
publications on archaeology, city planning, interior design
and historic preservation as well as architecture. Coverage reaches
from the 1930s (with selective coverage dating back to the 1860s)
to the present. The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals, with
more than 229,000 records is updated daily. It is available online
through the Databases
section of the library homepage, and in the Wentworth Library in
print form covering 1979 through 1993.
RIBA
Online Architectural Catalogue (Royal Institute of British Architects)
contains records for items held in the RIBA Library, added from
the 1980's onwards. The catalogue includes:
- An index to articles in over 300 periodicals held in the RIBA
Library
- A catalogue of books, drawings and photographs held by the RIBA
Library.
General Interest Indexes
Expanded Academic Index is an index to periodicals in the humanities,
social sciences, business and current events. It provides the full-text
of many journal articles. It is available online through the Databases
section of the Alumni Library homepage . It covers 1980 to the present.
Applied Science and Technology Full Text provides indexing, abstracting
and some full-text articles to periodicals in the subject areas
of science and technology. It is available online via the Alumni
Library homepage in the Databases
section. It covers 1983 to the present.
The Readers Guide to Periodical Literature is the classic
periodical index to publications on general interest subjects and
current events. It is available in the Wentworth Library in print
form covering 1954 to June 1998.

Landscape and Architectural Design, 1850-1920 A Study Collection
from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. This site comes
from the Library of Congress' American Memory Database.
An historical view of American buildings and landscapes built
during the period 1850-1920 that includes early pictures of Harvard
University.
- Architecture of specific
places - from the BUBL Information Service. Includes
links to sites on everything from skyscrapers to renaissance and
baroque architecture.

Types Online This Architectural Record site offers over
800 Building Types Studies that have been written up in past issues
starting in 1999. Photos, drawings, descriptions, etc. are included.

Image Database University of Washington database offers
5,000(+) images of buildings worldwide. Search for buildings by
country, city, style, title of building, architect and/or date
of construction.

Collection Can be searched by geographic location, period,
and architectural characteristic. Some building files include
a floor plan. This is also available on CD in the Alumni
Library here at Wentworth.
