The mission of the Wentworth Institute of Technology Laptop Program, which began in 2004, was for every full time day student to have a laptop by the Fall semester of 2009.

We have achieved our goal! With the successful implementation of the program, Wentworth provides all first year students with a laptop computer outfitted with the core suite of software that is used in all of Wentworth's academic programs. Wentworth students will also have the ability to download specialty software needed for their particular academic major.

As a student progresses through Wentworth, they will keep their assigned laptop from year-to-year. In their 3rd year, when a student achieves "Junior" status (Junior status is defined as having attained 64 earned credits), a scheduled "refresh" period will take place. During the refresh, the student will receive a brand new laptop to keep them competitive with industry standards. In addition to the 3rd year refresh, students in our 5 year Electromechanical program are issued a new laptop when they achieve their "5th Year" status (5th year status is defined as having attained 140 earned credits).

This new decentralized mobile computing model will be closely integrated with every environment including: studio, classroom labs, workshops, the library, and many other areas on campus..
