The design of interior spaces directly affects human activity at the most immediate level - the spaces where we learn, work, play, worship and heal. Interior designers enhance quality of life for their clients and improve the quality of our environment, by the spaces they design, and the products they select.

The Interior Design Program stresses the development of problem solving and critical thinking skills. The curriculum includes the study of art and design history, innovation in new materials and building technologies, and human behavior.

Students apply their growing knowledge and skills under the direction of experienced faculty in classrooms, labs, and studios. Other opportunities include collaborative work with students from other disciplines in the classroom and on community-service and extra-curricular projects. Juniors have the opportunity to spend a summer semester in Europe.

Recognized for its excellence, the Interior Design Program was ranked in the “Top Ten Undergraduate Programs in the US” by Design Intelligence, a publication of the Design Futures Council. The program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).
