Off the Green Line: Prudential
Wentworth’s urban location offers a plethora of opportunities for students. The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Green Line, located right in front of campus, gives students access to a wide range of destinations around the city. The “Off the Green Line” series maps out some of the traditional, as well as some of the unconventional, places to see around Boston.
Food Trucks, Belvidere St. between the Prudential Center mall entrance and the Christian Science Plaza
Unless it’s raining or snowing, you’ll find an eclectic array of food trucks here. The trucks provide a casual contrast to the more upscale eateries that surround them, and serve as a prime lunchtime destination for people working in the area. If you don’t know what you’re in the mood for, you can grab a small plate from each vendor.
Trucks include: Green Bean Mobile Café, Bon Me, Fugu Truck, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Frozen Hoagies, Taco Party, Sweet Tomatoes Pizza, and more. To find out which trucks are out today, visit Boston’s Food Truck Schedule, and select “Back Bay 4, Prudential.”
Colonnade Rooftop Pool, 120 Huntington Ave.
Enjoy an oasis amid the Boston skyline, where you can kick around a pool 12 floors above the city streets. Voted “Best Outdoor Pool” by Boston Magazine in 2011, the rooftop pool at the Colonnade Hotel offers poolside lounging, food and drink, and a stellar sunset view.
The pool is open to the public Monday-Friday for a fee.
Skywalk Observatory, 800 Boylston St.
For a view from an even higher point, visit the Prudential’s Skywalk Observatory. The sweeping 360-degree view stretches across Boston and beyond, and the Acoustiguide takes visitors on an audio tour featuring noted historic and cultural locations.
Tickets can be purchased in the Skywalk Observatory Kiosk in the Prudential Arcade. Discounted tickets with college ID.
