Student Profile: Krystal Rodrigues
Master of Architecture
What did you enjoy most about your program?
Designated studio space and getting to study abroad. I had the opportunity to spend a semester in Berlin in my senior year, and during the graduate program my class travelled to Kyoto, Japan, for ten days.
What was your most memorable college experience?
My travel to Japan was the most memorable experience of my time at Wentworth. Outside of architecture, I worked as an intern in the Intercultural Center and I was selected to represent the school at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in San Francisco. This was another truly eye-opening and memorable experience.
What did you like best about co-op?
I had the amazing opportunity to work for a highly esteemed firm in Bermuda during both of my co-ops and for a one-year internship between my undergraduate and graduate degree. I worked directly with the firm’s two partners on a variety of projects, and gained invaluable practical experience. Using skills that I had learned at Wentworth, I worked on projects in all phases of design and construction, dealing directly with clients, contractors, and consultants.
What are your future plans?
I plan to finish my internship hours and seek registration before returning to Bermuda. I have worked closely with the Institute of Bermuda Architects to help mentor prospective and current architecture students and I hope to continue working with them in the future.
What’s your reaction to graduating from college?
It’s bittersweet to finally reach this milestone, but I am ready to enter the professional world and feel well prepared with the tools Wentworth has given me.
Wentworth is a great school and the Architecture program in particular is outstanding. I feel very lucky to have been taught by such a talented group of professors and to have studied architecture in such a charming city as Boston.
