Residence Hall Internet and TV

Network

Residence Halls are equipped with gigabit Ethernet and wireless N connections. One network jack per outlet is activated, additional activations can be requested. Any other network devices you wish to connect you will need to bring your own switch and Ethernet cable(s) or compatible wireless adapter. In order to connect to the wireless network, your device will need to be WPA2 Enterprise compatible.  Note: Xbox, PS3, and Wii do not have this capability and will need to be wired in to function properly online.

Wentworth’s campus network branches off of a larger backbone called COFAN (Colleges of the Fenway Area Network).  This backbone is shared between Emmanuel, Wheelock, Simmons, Mass Art, and MCPHS.

Before accessing the network, please be sure to read our Acceptable Use Policy:

Phones

Phone service is not provided in the residence halls. If there is a special need for service please contact the Office of Housing and Residential Life..

Cable TV

Cable TV is provided in all residence halls at no additional charge to students. All you need to do is hook up your cable-ready TV to a cable TV jack. You will need your own COAX cable to connect your TV to the cable TV wall jack. We recommend a 20 foot cable for maximum flexibility. Cable TV service is provided to the campus by RCN.

The channel listings below are broken up into 3 sections, the analog channels for TV’s that do not have digital tuning (2-47), the Digital Channels for digital ready or Televisions with digital converters(50.x-53.x), and the High Definition or HD channel selection for you HD ready TV’s (60.x-78.x). For the digital and HD channels the .x will differ from brand to brand, some TV’s will assign the next number in sequence (1, 2, 3 etc) or the actual channel program number on the list. However you can also manually enter the channels from your remote. The dash (-) or the point (.) is located to the left of the ZERO button on most remotes.

If you are having trouble receiving HD channels on your TV, make sure you rescan your channels. If you aren’t sure on how to do this, please refer to the user manual that came with you TV or got to the manufactures website to get support.

If you are still having problems with your Cable Television service please contact your RD, they will initiate a service call with DTS.
