Laptop Program Overview

Laptop Program Overview

The Wentworth Laptop Program provides all full-time students and faculty members with a laptop computer. These computers are capable of running the high-end software that is customized to meet both the academic requirements and current industry demands for each specific major. Students in the: Architecture or Design and Facilities departments are provided with a MacBook Pro laptop. Students in the: Applied Math and Sciences; Civil, Construction, and Environment; Computer Science and Information Systems; Electronics and Mechanical; or Humanities, Social Sciences, and Management departments are provided with a Lenovo laptop.

The Institute started the laptop program as a pilot in the fall 2004. The program was initially implemented for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in the Architecture department. In fall 2005, the program was implemented across all of the academic departments for all incoming students. The Institute now supports both Mac and PC platforms. By start of the academic year in the fall of 2009, all students were outfitted with a laptop.

To ensure that the students have the most updated hardware and software, each laptop is refreshed during their junior year. At the end of their senior year, once a student graduates, they take their computer with them.

Please note: Software on the laptops is allowed to remain on the laptop at graduation. Upon graduation, Wentworth no longer supports, upgrades, or updates a graduate owned laptop hardware or software.
