The manufacturing industry has always been a backbone of our economy and is dependent on those skilled in machine operation. Wentworth Institute of Technology's machine tooling courses are designed for men and women who are interested in the manufacturing industry and would like to gain skills in machine shop practice.
Each machine tooling course is conveniently designed for busy adults, with 15 week courses offered in the evenings that allow you to quickly gain career enhancing skills. Students who complete both the Machine Tooling and Computer Numerical Control programs will receive a certificate of completion in Advanced Manufacturing Training.

TMTO110 MACHINE TOOL SETUP AND OPERATION 1
This course is an introduction to basic and advanced setup and operation of engine lathes as well as vertical milling machines. Additional topics covered include utilizing the selection of cutting speeds, feed rates, cutting fluids, quality control procedures, blue print reading, and tool geometry. Quality Control procedures and blueprint reading topics will be covered, as well as an introduction to computer numerical control of machine tools.
TMTO111 MACHINE TOOL SETUP AND OPERATION 2
This course includes current industry machining practices. Topics covered are Production, Rapid Prototype, as well as Tool and Die Machining. Prerequisite: Machine Tool Setup and Operation 1
TMTO112 MACHINE TOOL SETUP AND OPERATION 3
This course is a continuation of Machine Tool Setup and Operation 2. More time is allocated to machining tool and die type projects. Advanced manual machine tool setup involving milling and turning will be covered. A strong focus on CNC machine tool setup will be reviewed. Prerequisite: Machine Tool Setup and Operation 2
