Wentworth Leadership Institute Phase II

Overview
Phase II continues the exploration of leadership in a new format and with topics that fit in a global professional setting. Students will be discussing leadership in new ways allowing for open and honest dialogue about leadership with peers. An off campus retreat that will allow students to experience a professional conference setting while learning about leadership. This advanced leadership course utilizes a mix of guided open discussion and group activities to challenge perspectives and learn some advanced concepts of leadership and professional life.

Structure
Phase II is a free, 5 week, non-credit course that meets once per week during the Spring 2013 semester. Sessions are offered on a variety of days/times. Students must satisfy all requirements of Phase II before advancing to Phase III. 
   

Coursework 

Wentworth Leadership Institute coursework is designed to expose students to leadership concepts that encouraging deep, personal learning, fast assimilation of conceptual models and practical application to use at Wentworth and in future careers. All phases utilize a variety of teaching methods but ultimately include some form of experiential learning, practical application, and reflective learning. 

Course Topics

• Discussion Session 1: Advanced Communication Public Speaking, Debate, Giving/Accepting Feedback, Conflict Management
• Discussion Session 2: Advanced Inclusion Campus Climate, Global Climate, Social Justice, Advocacy
• Discussion Session 3: Advanced Ethics Understanding Power, Influence, and Privilege in the World and Workplace.
• Discussion Session 4: Advanced Teamwork Motivation, Praise, Group Development Theory, Decision Making Models

Off Campus Leadership Retreat at Waltham Woods Conference Center (Saturday, March 23)

• Changing behavior based on feedback
• Wellness (of self, team members, organizations etc...)
• Improving our weaknesses
• Recalling the discussions back

As a special thank you for reaching your second milestone in the Wentworth Leadership Institute, you'll be invited to our annual Milestone Celebration on April 10, 2013. This is a great chance to meet and network with other leaders from Phase I & II as well as campus leaders!

Course Instructors

Wentworth Leadership Institute courses are facilitated by Wentworth staff & faculty members that are committed to and trained in leadership education. Course instructors are available to work with students throughout the year.
