Season In Review
Under the direction of a new head coach and a new philosophy, the 2007 Wentworth softball team knew that its season would definitely be a transitional one. Having also lost both a pitcher and catcher who had earned all-conference honors during their careers, however, would make the road to a successful season that much more difficult to navigate.
With just five members returning from the 2006 squad, the rebuilding process began. The Leopards dropped their first three games of the season, which included a loss to Mass. Maritime in the first game of a doubleheader. Wentworth rebounded to win the nightcap by a 10-7 score, but that would prove to be the only win the Leopards would post all season, finishing 1-23 overall and 0-22 in conference play.
Despite the lopsided record, Wentworth remained competitive in many of its games, keeping the score close until the opponent pulled away in the final innings.
Sophomore Emily Caruso led the team offensively, batting .346 with two doubles, one triple, 18 rund scored, and seven RBI.
Junior Ashley Glassick batted .269 with a pair of doubles, one home run, 14 runs scored, and seven runs batted in.
Sophomore Krista Kelley hit .259 with nine runs scored and four RBI. She also pitched in 16 games and led the team with 31 strikeouts.

Looking Ahead
The Leopards do not lose any players to graduation, which will serve as a great foundadtion for te 2008 season and beyond. Add into the mix the first recruiting class under the new regime and Wentworth should be back to its competitive ways shortly.

History
A varsity program since 1986, the softball team has seen its share
of ups and downs, including a school-record 14 wins in 2001, which
was broken by the 2003 team (19). Since 1997, the team has played all of
its home games on Carr Diamond at Sweeney Field, which has lights
for twilight competition.
