Welcome to Wentworth

Since 1914, architectural education at Wentworth has integrated understandings of building technology with understandings of theory and design.  Amidst a multiplicity of approaches to architectural education, and in an increasingly fractured world where some theoreticians question the value of architecture itself, Wentworth embraces the traditional role of the practitioner: to design and construct buildings that contribute to society and enrich people’s lives.  We do this with an ongoing inquiry into those aspects of practice that endure and those that are emerging as new essentials. We offer two types of degree programs:

Graduates of each program enter diverse careers, which reflect the many aspects of architectural practice.

Located in the Fenway district of Boston, the Department of Architecture draws heavily on one of the world’s most culturally rich and diverse cities.  Surrounded by both historic and contemporary exemplars, and supported by world-class cultural institutions, Wentworth provides the ideal setting for architectural education. The rich, urban environment of the city also supports the diversity of our student and faculty community, which is drawn from cultures around the world. We not only embrace diversity, but also believe it essential to successful education and professional practice. We invite serious and enthusiastic students to participate in our program and to become leaders in the profession.  In joining our community a student enters a program that is collegial yet competitive, traditional yet contemporary, patient yet demanding.
