About Wentworth Institute of Technology

Founded in 1904, Wentworth Institute of Technology is an independent, co-educational, nationally-ranked institution offering career-focused education through 15 bachelor's degree programs in areas such as architecture, computer science, design, engineering, engineering technology, environmental science, and management of technology.

Academics
Wentworth's unique three-part experiential learning model combines class work, laboratory/studio work, and cooperative education to provide students with the hands-on approach to learning.

Additionally, Wentworth is a member of the Colleges of the Fenway Consortium, one of Boston's largest academic collaborations.

Co-op program
Wentworth offers one of the largest and most comprehensive cooperative education programs of its kind in the nation. This program, which has been active for over 30 years, provides Wentworth graduates the ability to gain the professional work experience needed to succeed in their field.

Accreditation
Wentworth is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Individual majors are accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE), the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET), the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER), National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), and the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET). Read more about accreditation for individual majors.

Learning while giving back to the community
Wentworth's Center for Community & Learning Partnerships (CLP)facilitates creative activities and programs that address community needs while simultaneously enhancing each participating Wentworth student's educational experience. The Center focuses on the student's capacities of technology, management, design, and youth/family outreach to help local non-profits and community groups with their individual challenges. During the 2006-07 academic year more than 1,800 students contributed 104,800 hours to community-based work and service.
