Career Fair Attracts Nearly 150 Companies to Campus

Boston, MA – March 26, 2008 – Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Career Services Department hosted its annual Career Fair on Tuesday, March 25 in Tansey Gymnasium. Featuring nearly 150 companies across many disciplines including technology, engineering, design, and management, this year’s premier recruiting event was attended by approximately 500 students and provided incredible opportunities to meet, interview, and network with executives from industry leading organizations for potential career positions. “This year's career fair was a tremendous success for students and employers,” said Greg Denon, Director of Career Services. “Participating companies are extremely interested to speak with and recruit Wentworth students for full-time and co-op job opportunities. Companies continue to recognize the quality, training and preparedness of Wentworth students, and several companies returned to campus to interview job candidates.”

The employer organizations that attended the event completed the day with a one-hour reception, which provided an opportunity to network with peers. A sampling of the local and national companies that participated in the Career Fair include Cubellis, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, IBM, Leers Weinzapfel Associates, Microsoft Corporation, Otis Elevators, Qinetiq North America (Foster-Miller), Shawmut Design and Construction, and Siemens Power Generation.

Many of the participating companies currently employ Wentworth alumni and business leaders, and over 60 of the representatives were proud Wentworth alumni.

In addition to the annual Career Fair, Wentworth students are provided various opportunities to participate in programs offered by career services throughout their time at Wentworth. The Career Services Department offers valuable workshops in resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, and networking. In addition, the department hosts an annual “Mock Interview Day,” which is an event that provides a forum to build on interview skills and research techniques, learn about companies for potential employment, and network with representatives from organizations that host cooperative education programs. Participating employers provide feedback to each student on their strengths and areas for improvement. Furthermore, the department hosts company information sessions, online job postings, and on-campus recruitment.
