Boston, MA – December 19, 2007 – Wentworth Institute of Technology today announced that junior interior design student Kate Putaski was selected as a finalist for the national Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship, sponsored by Gensler, a leading global architecture, interior design, planning, and strategic consulting firm. Ms. Putaski was one of two interior design students from across the country who earned the prestigious honor of presenting to Gensler representatives in New York City, on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. For her presentation, she was awarded a $1,500 scholarship and secured a post-graduation internship with Gensler.
Ms. Putaski’s formal presentation was on the design of office space for a fictional company, Think Inc., a 25,000 square foot advertising agency. It was based on her summer 2006 commercial studio project as part of the Institute’s interior design program. She was recognized for her design skills and her ability to articulate and present her project in a professional manner.
The Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship Fund, established in 1999, awards talented interior design students in memory of Donald G. Brinkmann, a former partner at Gensler.
“I am honored to have one of our exceptional students and her work be recognized for this prestigious award,” said Victoria Hardy, department head of design and facilities. “Kate is the first Wentworth student to achieve finalist status in the Gensler student competition. Her work clearly demonstrates her skills and abilities, and further elevates the strength of the Institute’s design program.”
Wentworth’s interior design program provides a solid foundation in design, design theory, materials, and building technologies, as well as a balanced study of aesthetic and functional issues and is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
