Boston, MA – July 23, 2007 – Wentworth Institute of Technology announced the appointment of Joan E. Dolamore to the position of Dean of Lifelong Learning for the Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (DPCS). Dr. Dolamore brings a wealth of educational experience, especially related to adult learning and professional studies, which will help further enhance the existing quality of education and academically rigorous programs, as well as advance the strategic direction of DPCS.

Since earning her Doctor of Education in Human Development and Psychology and her Master of Education, both from Harvard, Dr. Dolamore has been working in the educational field at Lesley University of Cambridge, Mass. for the past 21 years. Dr. Dolamore’s most recent leadership positions at Lesley University were Acting Co-Director of the Professional Studies Division and Associate Dean of Lesley College and Director of the Adult Learning Division.

“Joan will play a critical role in further advancing the existing educational quality and strong reputation of DPCS by developing programs and pedagogy that will be flexible in meeting the needs and goals of adult learners,” said Dr. Michael Kupferman, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and Associate Provost.

“I am excited at the opportunity to build on the existing, strong foundation of DPCS and to expand program offerings that tend to the needs of adult learners in innovative ways, providing convenient, accelerated and academically rigorous programs,” said Dr. Dolamore. “Forming strong partnerships with students, academic departments, alumni, and corporations will be key strategies for future growth and the delivery of high quality education and services to this population of learners.”

Throughout her career at Lesley University, Dr. Dolamore held leadership and teaching positions for the Schools of Management and Integrative and Experiential Studies, and Lesley College. She is a former board member of the New England Educational Assessment Network and as of October 2007, she will assume the presidency of the Adult Higher Education Alliance.

Wentworth’s DPCS helps adult learners achieve their educational and career objectives with evening and weekend courses designed to fit busy lifestyles that include families and full-time jobs.
