Milton, MA – February 25, 2007 – Sophomore guard Todd Doyle (Mystic, Conn.) scored 23 points on 7-for-12 shooting to lead five Wentworth players in double figures as the Leopards captured the 2007 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship with a 98-90 win over Curry. The title is the third for Wentworth, but first since 1998, and the Leopards earn the program’s second invite to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Wentworth’s improbable road to the championship featured three road wins, including knocking off both number one seeds in consecutive games. The Leopards improve to 17-11, the most wins since the 1998-99 squad finished 17-9, and await word of who and where they will be playing in the 2007 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament, which will commence next weekend. The pairings and sites will be announced Monday morning. |
