Commonwealth Coast Conference Honors Five

Boston, MA – February 19, 2007 – Junior guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (Norwalk, Conn.) was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year honors and a First Team All-CCC selection while his coach, Tom Devitt, was chosen by his peers as the CCC’s Coach of Year. The two are two of five individuals from Wentworth’s men’s and women’s basketball programs who were honored with CCC post-season awards.

Joining Prezzie-Blue on the men’s side of the ledger is sophomore backcourt mate Todd Doyle (Mystic, Conn.), who was named Second Team All-CCC. On the women’s side, senior forward Cheyenne Noble (Murrysville, Pa.) earned First Team All-CCC honors, while junior forward Emily Cring (Cicero, N.Y.) was an Honorable Mention All-CCC selection.

Both of the Leopard basketball teams begin their quest for a CCC Championship tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. The men, who are currently 14-11 overall and finished third in the CCC North Division with a 9-7 mark, head to Bristol, R.I., to face Roger Williams, the South Division’s second seed. This marks the second consecutive season the two have battled in the quarterfinals, as a three-pointer by Prezzie-Blue with 1.4 seconds left lifted Wentworth to a 68-67 upset win over the Hawks. The Wentworth women’s team is presently 12-12 overall and finished the regular season tied with the University of New England for third in the North Division with a 9-8 mark. However, the Nor’Easters had a better divisional record than the Leopards, which gave them the tiebreaker. As the fourth seed, Wentworth will travel to top-seeded Salve Regina on Tuesday night as well. Both games begin at 7:00 p.m.
