Boston, MA – November 10, 2006 – Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Career Services Department hosted their 5th annual "Mock Interview Day" on November 8, 2006. The event provides a safe forum for Wentworth students to build on interview skills and research techniques, as well as network with representatives from organizations that host cooperative (co-op) education programs (see photos from the event). "Mock Interview Day" is a non-recruiting event that provides an opportunity for students to learn about companies for potential employment and is part of the Institute’s nationally recognized co-op program. Employers who hire co-op students volunteer their time to interview students, and then provide feedback to each student on their strengths and areas for improvement, which contributes to the uniqueness of the event.
"Mock Interview Day is an incredible event that is made possible by the generosity of our co-op partners and other businesses to help educate our students," said Dr. Zorica Pantic, President of Wentworth. "Our students continue to receive valuable hands-on training from a high quality collection of business leaders who play a critical role in our teaching and learning experience."
Wentworth alumni and other business executives from employer organizations are the key players in making this highly regarded event a success. In 2005, over 300 students participated in Mock Interview Day, which featured nearly 40 employers. This year, the event featured participation from over 350 students and over 50 employers.
Employer organizations across many technology, engineering, design, and management disciplines helped make this event a success. Students were scheduled for two 30-minute mock interview appointments with an employer organization. In addition, students were allowed to schedule additional meetings on a walk-in basis at the event, if available. Mostly junior students participated in the event, as the participating organizations represent potential opportunities for their junior year, second semester co-op experience. All students and employers completed the day with a one-hour networking reception, which provided an opportunity to meet with additional employers.
