Boston, MA – October 12, 2006 – Is there an engineer inside you? Come find out on Tuesday, October 17 in Beatty 426 at Wentworth Institute of Technology from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. when award-winning engineer Celeste Baine will be speaking about careers in engineering as part of Wentworth’s distinguished lecture series. Baine will discuss various exciting careers in engineering, as well as help create a better understanding of the profession and an appreciation for how engineers improve our quality of life.
In addition to being an award-winning engineer and renowned presenter, Baine is also the author of three books: Is There an Engineer Inside You: A Comprehensive Guide to Career Decisions in Engineering, The Fantastical Engineer: A Thrillseeker’s Guide to Careers in Theme Park Engineering, High Tech Hot Shots: Careers in Sports Engineering. Based on ideas presented in her books, Baine will provide practical advice and expert guidance by exploring the engineering profession and encouraging involvement in engineering activities.
Celeste Baine is a biomedical engineer, the director of the Engineering Education Service Center and an award-winning author. She won the 2005 Norm Augustine Award for Engineering Communications. This award is presented annually to an engineer who has demonstrated the capacity for communicating the excitement and wonder of engineering. Baine also won the 2004 American Society for Engineering Education's Engineering Dean Council's Award for the Promotion of Engineering Education and Careers. She is the author of the engineering section of the World Book Encyclopedia's Science Year and the principal trainer for the Academy of Engineering LEGO laboratory. |
