Wentworth and Structure Tone Honor Strong Ties

President Pantic Visited with 20 Alumni Who Work at the Boston Construction Management Firm

Boston, MA – April 13, 2006 – On April 13, President Zorica Pantic and several Wentworth Institute of Technology staff members visited Structure Tone Inc. to meet company leaders and the 20-plus alumni who work at the Boston construction management firm.

Structure Tone is a worldwide construction services leader, working on projects that total more than $2 billion annually. The company is comprised of 14 national and international offices. The Boston regional office employs more than 80 construction professionals, close to a third of whom are Wentworth graduates.

Dr. Pantic and Elizabeth Shay, director of corporate and foundation relations, met first with Michael Malloy, regional senior vice president, Michael Ryan, CEC ’85, vice president of operations, and Dana DeMatteo, BUE ’85, estimator and second vice president of the Wentworth Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Following that, Dr. Pantic joined a lunchtime forum with 21 Wentworth alumni who work at Structure Tone. Also in attendance were four Wentworth co-op students currently on assignment with Structure Tone. “Your company has a long history of being one of Wentworth’s most active and loyal co-op employers," noted Greg Denon, director of the institute’s Career Center.

Michael Ryan welcomed the president: “Wentworth has long played a big part in Structure Tone’s success, especially in the Boston office. As you can see by this turnout today, there are a lot of hard-working alumni here, and Wentworth was the grass roots of that."

Paul Salamone, CE ’83, project superintendent, spoke for everyone in the room when he told the president emphatically, “Wentworth certainly prepared me well for this business."

President Pantic spoke to the group for 15 minutes, thanking them for the standard of alumni excellence they’re helping to maintain, describing various initiatives that Wentworth is undertaking as it begins to “Build the Next 100 Years," and fielding questions.

Aimee Kingston, CEC ’92, project manager, applauded the direction the school has taken: “It’s been amazing to see how the campus has really come to life in the past few years," she said.

The Structure Tone event was one of a series of visits that President Pantic has made to local firms and organizations with strong ties to Wentworth. John Fuller, BCS ’77, president of Fuller Associates, who has been active as a “corporate ambassador" for his alma mater, described the institute’s outreach: “Wentworth has a great story to tell and I’m thrilled to help Dr. Pantic get out and spread the word in the local business community."
