Purpose of Jobs, Duties, and Responsibilities

The Student Wellness Education and Empowerment Team (SWEET) is a group of students committed to keeping the Wentworth student body well-informed about health and wellness topics and empowering them to change their behavior in a positive, interactive, fun and nonjudgmental manner.

SWEET members are trained to staff the mobile SWEET Bar, where they will conduct 5- to 10-minute educational activities on a number of wellness topics. Topics may include alcohol and other drugs; safer sex; stress management; sleep hygiene; nutrition; fitness; body image; mental health; tobacco use; healthy relationships; sexual assault prevention.  

Responsibilities

  • Manages SWEET Facebook and Twitter accounts.
  • Each social media account could be taken on by a different SWEET member if desired.
  • May create new social media accounts (Instagram?) if a SWEET member can commit to managing it.
  • Must be responsible with content. Run any questionable content by Leah before posting.

Qualifications

Availability

  • Weekly hours include a minimum of 1 hour for a weekly meeting plus 1-5 additional hours staffing the SWEET Bar or doing hall programming (hours vary based on program requests & calendar)
  • Must be available some evening/weekend hours as needed
  • Must be willing to assist with Wellness Education programming
  • Must be available one weekend (Sept. 21-22, 2013) for intensive training

 

Requirements

  • An interest in promoting healthy behaviors among fellow students
  • A commitment to the goals, guidelines, and principles the Office of Wellness Education
  • A friendly, outgoing attitude and comfort with public speaking
  • A cooperative, mature, and nonjudgmental attitude towards sensitive health and wellness topics; must be comfortable discussing these issues openly with peers
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality

$9.50 per hour
