State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA)

This Beijing-headquartered "think tank" promotes international exchange and cooperation as a way of helping develop China's economy and explain its culture to the rest of the world. In the past year, SAFEA sent more than 30,000 Chinese educational and industry experts to countries all over the world, and imported nearly 1500 international experts to consult and work on projects of need and interest in China. Dr. Tsai had worked with SAFEA previously on flood control problems. Dr. Tsai will continue to follow-through on potential high level exchanges that could bring SAFEA experts to Wentworth, or send faculty or other key people associated with Wentworth to China. SAFEA is in the midst of creating 100 Confucius Centers around the world to better explain and communicate Chinese culture. Among 10 SAFEA overseas offices and alliances, there are 3 in the U.S., based in San Francisco, New Jersey and the Atlanta area.
