President’s Message
TO: The Wentworth Community
FROM: Zorica Pantic
SUBJECT: NEASC Self-Study
As most of you know, Wentworth is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and has been since 1967. I am proud that the Institute has earned this distinction that reflects the quality of the education we provide our students and the dedication and talents of the entire Wentworth community. Thank you all.
Every ten years universities and colleges go through a reaccreditation process by undertaking a comprehensive and wide-ranging self-study focusing on both quality assurance and institutional improvement. Wentworth was last reaccredited in 2001 and has begun the self-study which will culminate in an on-site evaluation by a team of faculty members and administrators from other institutions of higher education. The NEASC evaluation team will visit Wentworth in the fall 2011.
As part of this process, committees have been formed consisting of faculty members, administrators, students, Trustees, and Corporators to begin preparing the detailed self-study that addresses the eleven NEASC standards of accreditation. It is important to note that the self-study is about more than just reaccreditation. It is an opportunity for us to evaluate all aspects of our institution and use this assessment as a platform from which to look towards the future.
Communication is key and the reaccreditation process will be most successful with the input and participation from all constituents across campus. The intent of this web site is to facilitate communication about the process and the progress in developing the self-study. There will be regular updates to the community on this web site as well as through the committee members that represent every aspect of the Institute.
If you have questions or comments feel free to e-mail them to the co-chairs of the Institute NEASC Self-Study Committees or Michael Kupferman, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs/Associate Provost and Wentworth’s NEASC 2011 Reaccreditation Chair, at neasc2011@wit.edu.
I look forward to working with you on this important activity.
