Posting of the NEASC Self-Study Report

TO: The Wentworth Community
FROM: Dr. Zorica Pantic
SUBJECT: Posting of the NEASC Self-Study Report
DATE: October 14, 2011

I am very pleased to announce the posting of the full text of the self-study report for our NEASC re-accreditation review. This report is the result of many hours of data collection, writing, editing, and production by over 100 faculty, staff, students, trustees, and corporators. Thanks very much to all who participated in its preparation. In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to the Co-Chairs for the eleven NEASC Standards, and particularly to Mike Kupferman and his editorial team: Marilyn Stern, Karen Britton, David Downey, and Ted Rooney. They worked long hours under tight deadlines, and put the finishing touches on an outstanding report.

I hope you will click on the accompanying link and spend some time perusing the report. In addition to chronicling Wentworth’s proud history of over 100 years, it documents the remarkable accomplishments of the past decade thanks in great part to the vision and leadership of Wentworth’s Board of Trustees — and presages equally noteworthy achievements ahead. In every aspect, Wentworth is becoming an even stronger, more vibrant institution, adapting to changes in the evolving global economy without losing sight of its mission and values.

This self-study forms the basis for the re-accreditation site visit, which will take place on October 23-26. An Open Forum on the accreditation process and visit will take place on October 17 th from 3:30 to 5:00 in Beatty 426. At that event, Dr. Pinizzotto, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, will present an overview of the self-study and how Wentworth is upholding the Standards put forward by NEASC. On the afternoon of October 24th, the site visit team will be holding Open Forums for students, staff, and faculty, also in Beatty 426. I encourage you to participate in those events. Accreditation is crucial to the Institute’s continued success, and participation in the accreditation process is one measure of support for the Institute.

If you have any questions about the self-study report or the accreditation process, please contact Dr. Michael Kupferman, Wentworth’s NEASC 2011 Reaccreditation Chair. Details of the site team’s visit are being coordinated by Associate Provost Chuck Hotchkiss and Jane Allen.

I look forward to your participation in the accreditation visit Thank you for all the ways that you make Wentworth an exceptional institution.
