Interior Design Exhibit in the Alumni Library Fall 2013
A Student Centered Collegiate Library
In this project Sophomore Interior Design students re-designed the primary public spaces of the Alumni Library in order to create a fresh new library experience that is not only user focused but also a pleasant place to learn, exchange ideas, and pass time. The problem assumes that many of the stacks and functions present on the main and mezzanine levels of the library today will be relocated to or in areas outside the scope of the project or maintained digitally. As such, students focused on the user experience through implementation of design elements and principles as well as a palette of materials and lighting intended to create aesthetically pleasing spaces that honor the rich history of collegiate libraries and suits the function of its ever changing place on today’s college campus.
The exhibit will be up through mid October.
