Myles Elliot Sweeney '28, studied architectural construction
at Wentworth and later became a businessman and advocate for
technological innovation in the construction trade.
In 1930 he began his career for John Mansville Corporation
and became vice president in 1959.
Sweeney constructed wind tunnels for the National Advisory
Committee for Aeronautics, built apartment buildings, represented
the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association, and helped
develop the Uniform Building Code.
In 1995 he was awarded an honorary doctor of engineering
technology degree by Wentworth. Sweeney died in 1996

- Construction spanned March to August of 1996 and
cost nearly $3million.
- Sweeney field is 3.3 acres with six 60-foot light
standards.
- The soccer field is specifically 195' x 330'. Rubber
tire and small stone in a subsurface layer produce
a resilient turf.
- The field complex has 47 independent parking spaces
and is surrounded by 39 trees (crabapple, honey locust,
and pear).
- Home field for soccer, lacrosse, and softball teams.
