The Fenway Card

What is the Fenway Card?
The Fenway Card acts as a debit card and a key as well as an identification card.  Money is placed onto the card for use in the bookstore, some vending machines, washers and dryers, the cafeteria, the convenience store, Massachusetts College of Art cafeteria, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy cafeteria and many off campus businesses. You need the ID card to use the gymnasium, library, architecture studios, and residence halls. Students are required to carry a valid I.D. card at all times.

The card is valid as long as you are a student. Validation is required each semester. Validation stickers may be obtained by bringing a copy of your class schedule to the Copy Mail Center during the first week of school.

How does the card work?
The card is both an I.D. and a debit card.

Deposit money into your Fenway Cash account for use at the bookstore, vending machines, and washers and dryers, the cafeteria, the convenience store, Massachusetts College of Art cafeteria, the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy coffee shop, and some off campus locations.

Board money is automatically downloaded onto your card each semester and can be used only in the Wentworth cafeteria, the convenience store, Massachusetts College of Art cafeteria or the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy coffee shop.

The card also allows you access to the residence halls and certain studios, and is needed to borrow books from the library and to attend numerous Colleges of the Fenway events.

How does board money get onto my ID card?
At the time that you sign your housing contract, you will also select a board plan.  A food account is then automatically opened for you. Board plan dollars may be used in the Wentworth cafeteria, the convenience store, the Massachusetts College of Art cafeteria, and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy cafeteria.

How do I open a Fenway Cash account?
Fenway Cash is different from your board plan money. In addition to having a board plan, you may also open a Fenway Cash account. Monies deposited in the Fenway Cash account can be used in the bookstore, vending machines, in the residence halls laundry rooms, any of the Colleges of the Fenway cafeterias and many off campus businesses.  A minimum deposit of $20 must be made to open a Fenway Cash account.

What if I have a balance remaining in my accounts at the end of the semester?
The funds in your Fenway Cash account automatically roll over from one semester to the next. Fenway Cash accounts which show no activity for 12 consecutive months will be charged a $25.00 service fee per month or the account balance, whichever is less. There will also be a $15 account closing fee if there is any money left in the account upon graduation or withdrawal from school.

If you are on a board plan (required for all resident students), balances remaining at the end of the fall semester will be transferred to the spring semester.  Balances remaining at the end of the spring semester will not be transferred to the summer semester.

Students who live on-campus
As a resident student, you will pay for your meals initially through your housing contract. Money is then downloaded onto your ID card. Then, use your Fenway Card to pay for your meals. Just present your card to the cashier. Your account will be charged accordingly and your remaining balance will show on the cash register.

All residential students are required to select a board plan at the time that they sign the housing contract. All first year students and students who live at Baker Hall, Evans Way, or Tudbury Hall are required to purchase a full meal plan for $1000 per semester. Students who live at other residential facilities may purchase a $1000 plan, a $600 plan, or a $200 plan per semester. Meal plan dollars may be used at Beatty Cafe, the convenience store, Massachusetts College of Art cafeteria, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences coffee shop.

Meal plan money which is left over at the end of the Fall semester is carried over to the Spring semester. Meal plan money which is left over at the end of the Spring semester may not be carried over to the Summer semester. Meal plan dollars are not refundable.

Based upon our experience, considering missed meals, weekends away from campus, etc., the full meal plan is sufficient for the average student. If you stay on campus every weekend, eat every meal, or are a large eater, you may run out of dollars as you near the end of the semester. Additional funds may be deposited.
