NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Four players scored in double figures, including senior guard Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (Norwalk, Conn.), who had a tam-high 19 points, as the Wentworth men’s basketball team cruised to a 90-56 win over Albertus Magnus in the consolation game of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Tournament at UMass Dartmouth.
Senior guard Ed Bolton (Silver Spring, Md.) gave the Leopards a 4-2 lead 2:17 into the game and Wentworth never looked back, leading by as much as 19 with 7:28 left in the half when Prezzie-Blue drained a three pointer. The Falcons would trim the lead to 12 (31-19) with 4:37 left, but a 15-5 run to close out the half gave Wentworth a 45-21 lead at the break.
Leading by 17 points with 12:40 left, the Leopards used a 19-2 run over the next 4:09 to break the game open and take their largest lead of the game at 34. During the run, Bolton had nine of the 19 points.
In addition to Prezzie-Blue’s 19 points, Bolton scored 16, while junior Kevin Wentworth (Ware, Mass.) had 11 points and five assists, and sophomore forward Matt Abbott (Falmouth, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 caroms. Wentworth held Albertus Magnus to 38.8 percent shooting from the floor and had a 46-29 rebound advantage.
The Falcons were led by junior forward Justin Morris (West Haven, Conn.), who scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
