DIED
Nate Prouty

You came unto me like a calm unto a storm
Settled all my enmity; my atman's been reborn
Washed away my sorrow and drenched away my pain
The undertow had caught me - you helped me cut that chain
But now you're gone, the waves are back - help me to relive
Cause I'm not whole with you gone and missing what you'd give
Fortunate am I for witnessing your existence
How lucky have I been to have seen you alive
Before you died
I witnessed your reflection in the pool of discontent
Watching the shadows linger on to what all this meant
Wanting more, not knowing what, but searching as we might
We found each other in the dark and gave each other light
But you left me here, all alone, and let the darkness grow
Search again, must I, to find where my love did go
Fortunate am I for witnessing your existence
How lucky have I been to have seen you alive
Before you died
I watched you leave this earth, overcome in disbelief
My mind raced in a thousand directions dealing with the grief
I saw your face in everyone, your soul in every dream
Night after night I'd wakeup in a terrifying scream
As thoughts meander in restlessness, the bullet reaches the head
For I know I can only reunite with you in the land of the dead
