Assignment:  

It is stated in "Proxemics in the Arab World" that "Perceiving the world differently, leads to differential definitions of what constitutes crowded living, different interpersonal relationships, and a different approach to local and international politics."  Using this essay as your example, write an essay looking at your own culture (your native home) and how interactions on a small, social level can tell us something about how your culture perceives and is perceived on a national level.

Procedure:

This sounds much more complicated and difficult than it is. Reread the essay.  He gives a few examples of social behavior and builds on that.  You do the same.  Think of some telling examples of social behavior that you find revealing about your culture.  Show your readers your examples, the suggest how that behavior might affect perceptions of the world outside, and perceptions of the world looking in.  Finish this with your thoughts, your discoveries about the work you have done.
